The Life Fo Kris Aquino
Born in February 14, 1971, Kristina Bernadette Conjuangco Aquino-Yap is well- known to us as Kris Aquino. She is the daughter of the well loved late President Corazon C. Aquino and late senator turned national hero, Benigno Aquino, Jr, a popular for his verbal resistance to the Marcos Regime during the martial law. She is the youngest among the five siblings, Maria Elena, Aurora Corazon, Benigno Simeon III (a former Congressman of Tarlac and currently serving his term as a Senator) and Victoria Eliza. At a young age, she saw how her family was harshly treated by the Marcos government as her father liberally took his stand to oppose the military rule.
Kris Aquino spent most of her elementary years in the United States as they were sent out as a political exile that time. Her father returned to the country in 1983 and was assassinated upon reaching the airport. This event resulted to a great upheaval that awakened the spirits of the people and stood against the rulership. In 1986, the People Power Revolution removed President Ferdinand Marcos from his position giving way for the widow of the late senator Aquino to take the governance. And start of the rise of a small child, Kris.
Kris Aquino had a fair share of the limelight, not only for being the daughter of the President, but she had her way in the show business. She started young and tried different genre of TV shows like comedy, drama and horror. Her film debut was with the late Rene Requeistas, Pido Dida. She was first hailed as the Blockbuster Queen because of the movie.
Her other blockbuster movie hits were Sukob, Feng Shui, So Happy Together and Mano Po (2002).She became the top game show host of the country for Game Ka Na Ba?, Philippine franchise of Deal or No Deal, Wheel of Fortune, Pinoy Bingo Night receiving an award as the Best Female Game Show Host for over a couple of years. Her undeniable wit hailed her as the Queen of Talk and awarded as the Best Celebrity Talk Show Host for consecutive years. Presently, she is one of the hosts of the award winning showbiz magazine show The Buzz together with Boy Abunda and Ruffa Gutierrez. She is also one of the top endorsers of the country and known as the Princes of TV commercials. Indeed, she is one of the highest-paid celebrities in the country today.
Her love life is like a circus. Many were linked to her but two of those past relationships stood out. The one with Philip Salvador with whom she had an autistic son Josh and the turbulent relationship with a married man, Joey Marquez that ended in a controversial scenario leading her to court as she filed charges against Marquez and claimed that the latter inflicted her with a sexually transmitted disease.
Kris Aquino is presently married to a younger man James Yap, a Professional Basketball Association (PBA) player who is presently one of the promising stars of this league; with whom she has a son fondly called as Baby James and is gaining fame because of various TV endorsements. Truly she is a multi-media actress.
The passing away of their mother last August 1, 2009 brought the entire country in grief. Now, her brother Noynoy answered the call of many people to run for presidency in 2010 national elections, and she promised to support him along the way. The making of a Kris Aquino has proven us that despite of struggles one can always pull an inspiration from them and face the future bravely and with integrity.
