Filipino Food and Recipes Minatamis na Saba / Saba con Yelo

Minatamis na Saba Ingredients:

15 pcs. Ripe Plantain Banana (saba)
¼ kilo Brown Sugar
1 pc Kalamansi peeling, sliced thinly or lemon rind (1 teaspoon)
3 cups water

Crush Iced
Evaporated milk

Procedure:

1. Peel off banana and put in a casserole together with sugar, water and kalamansi peeling.or lemon rind
2. Boil until banana is cooked and well done and water becomes a thin syrup.
3. Let cool and serve.

Alternative serving:

Put cooled banana in a bowl with syrup. Add crushed iced and evaporated milk. Add more syrup for those with a sweeter tooth.

Note: The kalamansi peeling or lemon rind will give the banana a distinct smell and taste.
