Nissan Philippines leads market thanks to its innovative programs and good customer service

When you talk of leading automotive companies in the Philippines, the name Nissan Philippines will always come up in the discussion.

Nissan's partner in the Philippines has taken great strides in order to make it one of the leading automotive manufacturer and dealer in the country.

Nissan has actually a partner in the Philippines. Universal Motors Corporation made a move in 1984 when the company focused on the Nissan light and commercial and recreational vehicles. The entry of Universal Motors Corporation into the market and its subsequent focus on Nissan's light and commercial recreational vehicles was seen as a bold move by many since this type of vehicles were not the most popular ones during that time. But the move paid well for Nissan Global and the Universal Motors Corporation as the company cornered the market.

Based on latest figures, UMC is now large company in the Philippines with total assets pegged at around 1.3 billion and has more than a hundred employees. This company started in 1954 as an automobile assembler in the country, but one of its bigger brakes happened when the company assembled the Mercedes-Benz. It was in 1971 when the company made its first agreement with Nissan Motor Co Limited of Japan and their agreement calls for the exclusive distributorship of the brand's light, commercial and recreational vehicles. This agreement between the two companies has paved the way for the smooth movement of the technology when it comes to operations and design.

The two companies stick with each other thru thick and thin. With the partnership, a number of tried and tested vehicles were born and the list includes the Nissan Patrol, the Nissan Terrano, the Nissan Urvan and the Nissan Frontier Pick-up.

The company is a multi-awarded one. In 2002, the company won the Executive Vice President Award and again in 2003 the company received a citation from its mother company the Nissan Motor Co. Limited of Japan for being outstanding in terms of sale performance.

Prior to these awards, the company was also awarded the Customer satisfaction Number 1 award for many years. The company was the recipient of the awards in 1993, 1995-1998 and in 2002. By the year 2000, the company helped the Nissan Frontier be on top of its niche market and has remained on top for the next four years. Nissan Motor Philippines offer at least seven vehicles in the country right now. The list of vehicles includes the Murano, Serena, X-Trail, Grand Livina, 350Z, Teana and the Nissan Sentra.

. Nissan Murano. The Nissan Murano is a mid-size SUV. Its name has Italian roots since this is name of the place in Italy that is known for the blown glass.

. Nissan Serena. This vehicle from Nissan is designed with the family in mind and offers a roomy interior and a streamlined exterior design. The popular version of the Serena will have 8 seating instead of the usual 7.

. Nissan X-Trail. The X-Trail is a popular compact SUV in the country. The introduction of X-Trail in other countries coincided with the moves of other companies when they offered and introduced the car-based compact SUVs like the one offered by Ford and Mazda.

. Nissan Grand Livina. The Grand Livina is a 7-seat multi-purpose vehicle designed to be compact and flexible.

The other three offerings of Nissan Philippines include Nissan 350Z, the Nissan Teana and the Nissan Sentra.

Nissan in the Philippines is also known for its promos and programs that help its customers. For example, Nissan is known for its 'Ur Van, Ur Business'. This program by Nissan strikes a positive note, thanks to its hopeful message. This program by the company tapped the entrepreneurial mindset of the Filipinos. And it is the objective of the program to educate its Filipino consumers about the great value of the Nissan Urvan. This vehicle from Nissan can be used in many ways and can be tapped by the enterprising Filipino for his business.

The Philippine counterpart of global Nissan in the Philippines also continues to support the CCT Micro Finance program that supports the women micro entrepreneurs and in helping the Filipino families break the cycle of poverty. It is thru these efforts by Nissan Philippines and its partner, UMC that help Nissan be a stand-out in the market."
