Panglao is one of the two urban areas making up Panglao Island in the province of Bohol in the Philippines.
The other municipality is Dauis. This municipality is considered to be a fourth-class urban area of the province. It has to date dwellers of about 25,558.
This place is known for its world-class diving sites and houses various guest resorts and hotels. The best diving sites of Panglao can be found on its northwest area such as Doljo Beach, Napaling, and Puntod.
This urban area is a place of Habitat for Humanity's Tabalong Habitat Village. This village is donated by a local bourgeois Alturas. It can hold 500 houses. There are about 200 houses that have already been occupied and construction is ongoing for them to come up with an expected total of 500 households.
It is believed that the place got its name from the Spanish explorers in 1803. They named the place Panglao after the word, mapanglao which means lonesome place. The municipality of Panglao is politically divided into 10 barangays and these are Bil-isan, Bolod, Danao, Doljo, Libaong, Looc, Lourdes, Poblacion, Tangnan, and Tawala.
